They are about 2 in a half inch rbp, still have spots, usually when i feed them brine shrimp, bloodworms, beefheart they really go crazy and enjoy it but lately, past 2 days they havent been as crazy about eating as they usually are, they arent acting sick or lethargic. I keep my water at about 80 degrees. put a medium sized minnow in to see if live food would peak their interest. They attacked it until its tail was gone then left it alone. What should i do? Also I did a 30% 40% wc about 5 days ago, so its about time to do another.

giv them time try not feeding them for like 2 days .. try adding some more rbps .. they will feel less stressed

What are your ammonia, nitrite, and nitrate levels?

they may just be a bit too big for the brine shrimp and bloodworms... when they are small, they love chasing little bits of food around, but as they get bigger, they don't want to expend all that energy for what amounts to a little snack. i would switch up to raw shrimp, tilapia, cod, haddock, etc.... and see how they respond.

They ate the large minnows I put in there, then I bought some shrimp and pollock. I put some Pollock in and they didnt even really look at it. Do they know what it is? Is there a way to get them more interested. I am not worried bc they have eatin today. Will try again in the morning, I just dont them to get hungry and try to eat each other. Will post if they eat in tomorow around 2 o clock. But more pointers on how to get them to eat the pollock and shrimp would help. Is it that they dont know what it is cuz they havent eatin anything like that yet?

Try soaking food in a garlic and water mix. Let it soak an hour or two and try to feed them. Also, you might try taking the shell off the shrimp until they get back on a regular schedule.

Usually if you don't feed for a day at that size, they can't wait to eat the next day.

Ok they are eating some of the pollock I have put in the tank, but it took them about 5 min before trying it and they are just kinda grazing on it, not really attacking it until they are full. Is this normal behavior, and how long can i leave that pollock in there before it ruins water quality, im thinking to more then 15 min?

Tried shrimp right after and they responded a little better, ate more then the pollock and they look full, is this just going to take some adjusting before they accept there new food source better?

as long as they are eating, you shouldn't worry. the fact is that most people overfeed their fish, a lot of the times the fish will just eat anything that is offered, but sometimes they will only really eat when they are hungry, that's probably the case with your fish. just keep trying to offer different foods and see what happens.

as long as your tank is established and you keep up with tank maintenance, leaving a bit of food in even overnight isn't going to mess up your water... is long as they aren't being REALLY stubborn, i wouldn't leave food in for more than an hour or so.

I keep my rbps with a large shoal of smaller fish like black skirt tetras or tiger barbs. when they dont feed it doesnt bother me as there's always food swimming around if they get hungry. this also keeps em from attacking each other.
