My two red bellies are really skittish i have a 55 gallon water about 78 lots o artificial plants but there really skittish especially while I feed them they won't eat while im watching is there any way I can make them more brave

Lots of fish in the Amazon eat pirahnas so you just may have to accept that they'll be skittish.
If you recently got them give them time to get used to the new surroundings. Also keep you water pristine and they should get a lil braver. Good luck.

I've had them since august of last year and about 4-5 in

sounds like you have normal healthy piranhas that need a few more homies to feel secure.

sounds about right.

some ideas that might help is move the tank to a high traffic area or just spend lots of time in front of it so they get use to your movement.

usually just takes time though, let's face it, red bellies are skittish. i've seen super thick ternetzis atleast 12 inches long, in a shoal of 4 that in a pet shop for over 3 years and they're still skittish.

i got mine last aug and they are a good 7 inches. bigger tank and bigger school will make them less skittish, but they will always be scared

Yeah Its In a pretty high traffic area i had a four when I started out lost two to cannabilism and yes I know there a skittish fish by nature but was just wondering if there was anything i could do to make them more brave. I would like to watch them eat without having to peak around the corner or sit on the other sidebar the room lol
