piranhas with neons

wen is the best time to put neons with the red bellies? i tried to do it now wen ther 2-3 inches an its workin fine but the pet store said wen they reach maturity is the best time. the lfs doesnt really have exp. with red bellies cause the never really get them. so im askin here.
 
so far everytime ive tried the neons didn't last more than 2 days... ive tried whent they were 3-4 and once when they were 6-7 i think i might try one last time when they hit 9...
 
i have 3 red bellies in a 10 gallon with 2 neons till the red bellies get bigger then they will be put in a larger tank.
 
i forgot to mention that i do keep all my fish well fed so i think that has somethin to do with the neons still alive. cause they can swim right in front of them an the red bellies dont even bother with them.
 
they usually eat them at night. you'll need to provide a lot of cover, and the neons will last longer if the RBP are full grown. might help if you ween them off meat and put them on pellets.
 
the piranhas are on bloodworms, plankton, an shrimp pellets. San Francisco bay brand.
 
o an dont worry im not one of those owners that feeds live food like mice an stuff like that to bring out the aggressive tendencies. i want piranhas cause ther a really cool fish to have an im in one of the states that allows piranhas. "illinois" i just love piranhas lol got all the movies to.
 
that will work either when the ps are too small to eat the neons or when theyre so big a neon isnt even a snack you need something fast and harder to catch.
 
I have 9 2-3 inch reds and I dropped a few guppies in with them, two of the smaller ones were gone in minutes. But the larger guppies are still alive. When they get bigger I can only Imagine that the smaller quicker fish will be able to escape the pirahna's wrath.

wouldn't it be cool to get the salt water flying breed? i think that was from the 3rd sequel... they made cool noises when they fly
