We had a BAD batch of goldfish and one of our piranahas has 2 little Ancor worms by it's mouth, we are also worried they may have "flukes". Any experience and advice on treatment would be appreciated!!! we are researching and consulting professionals, but they do not always have experience with piranahas (especially in this area), so any help is greatly appreciated!!
thanks!

It's not easy to detect flukes. If these are anchorworms, remove those by their heads with tweezers and treat the wounds with betadine swabbed on a cotton. See sticky thread "FW Disease Guide" for options to destroy the anchorworms and next time, quarantine the goldfish. Goldfish are not proper treats anyway and why risk with a feeder fish when you have available options such as earthworms?

any thoughts on removing them? our fish are about 10-12inches long and there are 3, not too easy to grab without injury :( ironically we hadn't fed them goldfish in a looooong time, just thought we'd change it up, we learned that lesson! Our local fish store mentioned sedation before removing....though we fear it may be harmful to the other fish...bit of a complicated situation :S
thank you for you input.

we had trouble finding a medicine that was safe for our fish, so we raised the temperature in our tank to nearly 90 degrees (celsius, i'm canadian) used a treatment that was not too powerful and have refilled the tank twice since, and the anchor worms are GONE!!! we are still treating and leaving the temperature up in case of larva still hanging around. the fish responded fine as we added an extra pump to provide more oxygen while we raised the temp. i am posting this because the act of physically removing the anchor worms was not an option for us, many factors that would have had us or the fish hurt. also be weary that many medicines that help lots of other fish are not suitable for piranahas.
