Pirate perch feeding requirements?

I was planning on what fish to get for one of my aquariums. I was wondering if pirate perch really need live food, or is stuff like defrosted bloodworms ok? I wanted to know before I ordered a fish I could not keep alive. Also what size do they get? I have read 2-4 inches. Is this true???

I've only ever heard of them eating live baby fish, scuds (gammarus), worms (blood/black/wriggler), and ghost shrimp. And, I've seen a bunch at or close to 5".

let's just wait till after you moved the crappie and warmouth out of the smaller tank then you can order the pirate perch. But I can say that they prefers frozen and live foods.
