Ok, so, I began with my FX5 fine, but after the first month, it started to squirt microbubbles, so I cleaned it, and changed some of my media out. Then the same thing happened two weeks later. So, again I did the same thing.... Long story short, now, no matter what I do, the damn thing shoots out micro bubbles and makes an awful "full of air" noise. I shake it before I plug it in, I even took out an entire tray of media to see if that would make a difference. Any thoughts?

What kind of media are you using? FX5 specific stuff? Or is it just general bulk media?

With the couple I've used I found that they would eventually start shooting micro bubbles unless I used the FX5 sponges for the outside media trays and for the inside I would use cut to fit circles of poret filter foam.

I never use any bio media in mine though since they are purely for water polishing/mechanical.

I ran into the exact same problem that you have, but after i cleaned it out it ran fine and has been for about 3 weeks now. What type of media are you using??? I was using a polishing pad, biomax, and carbon and i noticed that the polishing pad on the bottom tray was so gunked up it reduced the flow to about half and was creating those small bubbles. Once replaced it was fine. Also you could just have a leaky seal somewhere in the filter. If changing the media out doesn't work and you bought the filter within a year or two you can send it to the manufacturer and they will fix it for free as long as you have the receipt. I hope i helped you a bit and let me know how it goes.

Yeah, curious to know what media you have. I have just the factory outter pads and all three baskets filled completely with bio on both of mine...no micro bubbles.

Same here.

In the past, I used the FX5 blue pads. After a couple of weeks, I would get the bubbles. Once I switched to all bio, all my problems ended.

i have a brand new one well a month old fx5 doing this and it only has biomax in it plus the factory sponges!!! i dont like it but my other fx5's are good
