this! personally i truly believe chows to be by far the most aggresive dogs. I know more people that have been bitten by chows than any other dog. so evil........

Maybe they are still mad about the being bred their meat and fur so long ago. =D

the problem is a pitbull is so loyal that if there owner is a deuschbag they are a deuschbag.... my dad rescued a red nose(pure bred) as a little puppy and the dog is incredible... no leash necessary.. stays by your side all day... if it doesn't like someone it stays by your side barking until you tell it to shut up or attack... i know other people with red noses(only speaking for the one breed) and one person with blue and it's the same deal...

they are popular for fighting, but as far as attacks on humans... the german's take the cake... Shepard, rottweiler and dobermans are some of the worst... but they are breed to attack/ guard... pitbulls are very smart and are used for things like search and rescue to therapy...

by the way most wouldn't know but the american temperament testing association rates pitbulls like 5% above dog average for good temperaments... the only problem with these dogs is people shouldn't be buying new puppies... they should be rescuing! if you want a puppy get a dog that is rare and not over breed and found in every shelter!

not my favorite dog breed, but very impressive as far as i'm concerned!!

Red, and Blue is not a BREED- It's simply a color.

I ran a Bully breed rescue for a little over a year (had to close due to finances) but I've experienced almost every personality of Bully breed imaginable.

People aggressive, Dog aggressive, cat aggressive, timid, happy go lucky, scared or EVERYTHING...

I also had the unfortunate task of meeting their owners- I can not tell you how many times I wish I had a gun for the horrible things I seen.

I rescued a dog thrown out of a truck in the middle of a storm; literally 50 feet from my house. When I got to him, I thought he was dead. He didn't move. He was vomiting bullets.. I found a dog so emaciated and under fed that she couldn't stand.. the list goes on.

I will never own any other type of dog. I have 4, and I wouldn't trade them for the world! It's all how the owner raises them, and the environment they live in.

I like most dogs but for me it really depends on who ones them. I myself have always been a German shepherd girl because I was raised with one since I was born and since then I've vowed to always have one.

But like I stated it depends on the owner. I had a friend with a pit named Gus who was raised on a farm with a loving owner who took him everywhere and he was a great dog. Never killed anything in his life. He was a big meat head, but he had a amazing disposition. You know, the kind of dog who thought he was a lap dog but weighed like 70-80lbs.

But I've also met pit who were semi nice, but not raised properly. For example I had two awesome chickens, they came when you called them, you could pick them up and pet them, yata yata. But they were both killed by pits on random occasions.

I believe with any dog, bad dogs aren't born there raised. So its very unfair to say pits are horrible killing creatures, but I've noticed that if they aren't raised right they have a tendency to be more aggressive. Not saying that there more aggressive than all other dog but they just have a tendency to be aggressive, which is common with a lot of dogs. And I don't know if its just where I live but pits are "cool" to own so people get them and don't give them the attention they deserve/need to be awesome companions. Also some people around my area think its cool to have some mean a*s dog who tries to kill anyone but there owner.

So my point is they have a bad rep, but its not there fault... Sometimes people suck and ruin it for everyone. And its sad...

It's all in how they are raised as puppies. My parents fliped when I brought mine home. they have a shelty, and she beat the hell out of my pit as a puppy and as she aged, never once fought back against my moms dog. When I got married I had already bought my wife a cockerspaniel, they get along great excpet when miy pit wants the cockers chew toys then the cocker attakcs. No damage done to the cocker, but had to take my pit to get stitches from her getting bit. Pits are loving dogs and love attetion from people, but can be protective when needed.

It all comes down to responsibility. Whenever you bring an animal with this kind of power into your home, there has to be a hard line of respect from you AND the animal. Gaining and keeping that mutual respect is paramount. An animal like this needs to be treated with the same caution as a bear or a big cat. Pitbulls are fantastic dogs, but if you are not WELL educated on dog behavior and the PROPER way to control an animal of the magnitude of an apex predator, choose another breed. I have owned and been a part of the lives of many many bully breed dogs all of my life. If you have ever seen one of these dogs go off full tilt, you know that the only difference between them and a bear is a few hundred pounds. Hand to hand, a human would have NO CHANCE of escaping a full on attack by a healthy bulldog. On the other hand, it is very easy to avoid a situation like that. EARLY socialization with other dogs and lots and lots of people. Early and often. Socialization and positive disciplinary reinforcement at an early age are a must. Did I say early and often socialization with lots and lots of other dogs and humans? If not, allow me to say it again. Also, these dogs do not respond well to physical punishment. Learn "pack tactics" and treat your dog as a member of a pack, not as a human. The dog will respect you more and in the long run will be a well behaved, non violent, trustworthy member of your family. Any early signs of aggression should be discouraged and corrected immediatly. By not allowing the dog to become possesive or aggressive towards ANYTHING early in its life, you will establish yourself as an alpha in the dogs eyes, and that is very very important with these breeds. ./end rant

What do YOU think?

While more attacks by dogs are of these breeds, it isn't because the Dogs are mean or inclined to do us harm. ANY untrained dog will be a nuisance on society. So if you are going to buy one of these dogs, make sure you have a FIRM GRIP on their training.

The reason for the high counts of bite and fighting is because these dogs are very popular with the country as protectors and then as for fighters so of course it will be a high number on them but if you see and ask anyone who owns one and treats them right, they are the best of the best and no other can replace them for the love and companionship that they bring to a household. I love them and own three and will never change that. RIP STRIPES

i completely agree with the OP.
im actually petrified of dogs but the only ones i would get would b a staffy, pitbull (if i could get them over here) rottweiler or boxer.

i think ur dog is what u make it.
similar to kids, yeah they may inherite aggresive traits from their parents but if u teach them well, whats wrong and right etc then they will be fairly grounded individuals.
not saying thats true for everything. but u train them in the right way and hopefully it will stick.
i have NEVER met a nasty staff. over here pretty much all our (documented) attacks are by staffs.
i would never put the dog down as it not its fault in my eyes, its an animal. although i suppose this differs when u see the owner lol.
if it is a family dog u can probably agree this was a one off attack, if the person is some sort of dealer...this wasnt the 1st or last attack.

does any of that make sense.
