Well Here's the deal. I have a small tank that had 1 golden gourami in it. It used to have 3 pictus cats, and 2 golden gourami, but the bigger gourami killed everything. EVEN the PLECO. So he was in there for about 3 months by himself. I got a wild hair, and decided to try my hand at breeding cons. (ya'll make it sound soooo easy and all) So I asked my LFS if they would take the gourami, and they said not right now. Well I figured he's a strong SOB maybe he would fare ok in the oscar tank. It's been 3 hours, and so far so good. The o's nipped at his tail a couple time, but are leaving him alone now. I have 4 cons in the 10 gal. he was in. (getting a 33 gallon long tank next week to replace it with.) With all good luck I will have breeding cons, and a live gourami in harmony with my 2 O's.

So what do you guys think will the gourami make it or not??

I had dwarf gourami's in with my nasty Tiger Oscar and they were fine the LFS I go to were amazed lol. This Oscar ate a redtail shark but for some reason he would just chase the gourami's around like toys. This is the same Oscar that went after another Oscar bigger then him. I will say if it has been fine for a few hours already that he might make it.

Off this subject but I would get a bigger tank for the cons.

Already working on it. They won't be in there for more than 2 weeks. They are pretty small now so it should be just right by then.

Gourami should be fine if it's big enough not to fit in the O's mouths.

as long as you know someday the Oscar might get a little hungry and ..no more Gourami
