Hey guys ok so i have a question I have to HOB filters, AC70 and AC110. Tank still seems to be a bit foggy like theres some particles floating around not being sucked up. I added filter floss above the sponge and below biomax media in both filters. My question is what is the best intake spot, obviously they have to be along back wall but will tha effect filtration if the large piece of driftwood is in front of it or plants(fake) are near it?? Im thinking of moving some stuff around. Any suggestions.

Stock is my sig. 75gal tank.

mine was foggy too, and a lot of plantarias, weeks later, i realized that drift wood caused the problem. After removing drift wood, all worms/plantar are filtered and water became crystal clear again.

Foggy still...How long has the tank been setup???You probably have a bacteria boom......Do a 50% water change.......

You might just need a powerhead to help with circulation (which will help the filters suck up waste/etc).

Though...I'm not sure if "foggy" water is caused by low mechanicle filtration...could be a biological filtration problem. Have you recently replaced the bio-media or rinsed it w/ tap water (which kills the beneficial bacteria...unless you don't have chlorine/chloramines in your tap i guess).

I can't see what you have stocked in the tank, because I keep sigs/avatars/pictures turned off while at work.

Test the waters with a liquid test kit (ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate)

How long have you had the driftwood i had a problem with cloudy water when i put driftwood in my tank it did go away after a while, the driftwood i used was smaller though You should add a powerhead to get the tank circulating better.

If it's a drift wood issue the water will be yellow/brownish. If your having a biological issue i.e. over feeding, dead fish you don't know about, or you just added more fish increasing the bio load. You will see a cloudy type coloration like your describing. Test the water for ammonia levels you can even smell it. If your water has any smell you may have biological issues.
If it's a biological issue it will correct it self over time just throttle back on the feeding basically make sure all the food you put in is getting eaten with in 5 or 10 minutes. Do more frequent but less amounts of water changes. For example: you use to do 10 gallons every week, go to 5 gallons twice or three times a week. Water changes are stressful for the fish and the good bacteria, minimize the stress until you get this resolved.
If it's the drift wood (yellowish coloration) then remove the wood. My drift wood is over a year old and it still colors the water. It's a lot less coloration now than a year ago but I don't think they ever stop leaching tannins into the water?

the best place to have the intake varies with every person. It depends on the direction of water flow throughout the tank. Each tank is different because one might have powerheads, one might have a sump, one might have UGF, etc etc. So we don't know the water flow in your tank. Best thing to do is sit there and watch the tiny particles in your tank and watch where they flow.

for instance, the majority of the poo/debri in my tank are located in one corner because of how i positioned the outputs of each filter. Just play around with your outputs and see where is best.
