I recently purchased a used 7x2x2 acrylic tank.

There is no overflow. I am thinking about drilling a hole into the back of the tank (near the top) to drain water into my wet/dry.

With this length of tank, do I need 2 holes for drainage (one on each end of the tank) or can I still get away with just one hole top center?

I actually would perfer to drill just one hole on one end if its possible.

Thank you.

This would all depend on what size hole you are planning on drilling and if your going to use an overflow box and how wide the box is. You would be better off with two drain lines in case there is a blockage. If you use a wide overflow box then you won't have to see two holes in the tank just the internal overflow baffel.

Are you going to mount an overflow box in the tank or are you going to just drill a hole and put in a bulkhead with a strainer on it?
If you only want 1, I personally would put a 2" bulkhead in that way you can really flow some serious water through if need be.

I was not going to use an overflow box. just drill a hole for drainage.
I currently have two 1" bulkhead, but I would prefer to just use one if possible.

I plan to use a Quiet One 3000 pump to return the water.

Bulkhead for drainage will be 62" from the ground and return will be 63" from the ground.

If possible, I would like to use one bulkhead with plumbing leading down to the wet-dry. At the wet dry, I was going to split the drainage pipe into 2 so that the water would distribute more eveningly over the bio-balls.

The sump is a 60g acrylic tank (standard 48") where 40" of it has been sectioned off to hold the bio-balls.

The tank will also be filtered by a Fluval FX5, a XP3 Cannister, and a Lifeguard Fluidized bed-filter.

I would personally run two bulkhead so that there will be better surface agitation. The two 1" bulkheads you have should work fine and I don't think you will exceed the volume that your quiet one 3000 is capable of.
