Ok, I have a 30g sump, and 2 fx5s on my 150g. As of now, I have the overflow box and 2 inputs on one side of the tank and all the outputs on the other. But I notice all my fish stay to one side with the inputs except my two 9 inch Oscars and my small arrow-they swim the whole tank. My two ten inch id sharks, 3 jds, 4 bichirs and 2 ghost knives will stay near the input side. The flow isn’t strong and I basically have ball joints closed to slow down the flow as much as possible. I am thinking about switching the outputs to the middle and overflow box on one end and 2 fx5s inputs on the other. I don’t mind the id sharks not swimming because they are going into a friend’s indoor pond when they hit 13- 15” but I want my other fish to swim so I can enjoy them more. Has anyone dealt with this before? Do you think switching around inputs and outputs will help? All ideas and comments are welcome!

Imagine if you were on a treadmill and had someone standing over you with a whip, and then gave you a crack every time you wanted to quit.
Basically, your fish are telling you that they are tired of swimming against the current when they huddle in a still area. Fish that evolved in slow moving bodies of water and lakes will die if you make them fight current all the time.

Put your outputs at different depths. One surface and 1 deeper so the current is spread out a bit and there are more calm spots. Nice filters though. :)
