I've noticed a lot of people on this site have their fish in a bare tank with no gravel or decor. Are you just being cheap or are their other reasons for this? Not trying to offend anybody, just an observation and curious. Do you have to constantly clean poo off the the bottom of the tank?

Easier to clean is one reason. I suppose too that no decor means more water volume for the fish. No decor also mean there are no "landmarks" to establish territory, lessening aggression. Oh, and for some MFK'ers it's all about the fish, not the decor. All you see is the beauty of the fish!

- easier to keep clean, no particles floating around in the water
- easier to maintain better water quality
- focus on the fish, not the decor
- looks better, IMO. this is subjective. i personally dont like tanks w/ substrate and lots of decor

Your tank is an exception tho j, but yours isn't bare bottom glass though is it? And the background is pimp. When I get a 240 one day I am going to copy some of your ideas...;) You have one FX5 on your 210 right?

yeah mine has tile on it. i did that only because the bottom glass was pretty beat up from the previous owner, otherwise it would have been a true bare bottom. even w/ tile its pretty easy to clean up. and yeah, i have an FX5 and a sump...
