The other day the power went out for 12hrs in my area and thankfully
I didn't lose any fish probably cause I'm lightly stocked.:)

Just wondering what everyones back-up plan is when power dies
especially for those who have thousands invested or heavily stocked?

just let it go.... i only have an oscar in my 55 and 4 cichlids in my 75 and my convict fry in the 29 aren't gonna die any time soon.

They make battery powered air pumps that turn on when the power goes off for those who need them.

I just hope that my tanks being super under stocked will do the trick. Also, I gave up on my plans on keeping really warm loving fish like the school of clown loaches that I wanted. This is because any outages in my area are usually long term, like days of no power. The tanks are too big for any feasible backups on either heat or air.
If my power goes out in the dead of winter, I'll be relying solely on the constitution of the fish I keep as I went with as cold as possible fish-wise with out it being a dedicated cold-water tank.

battery air pumps and waterbottles filled with media from the sump...

also one of those plug addapter things you can hook to a car battery
