Hey guys~
Long time reader of these threads, just made an account today.

So, heres my issue. I currently have a 50 gallon set up with two 9-10 inch bichir, a rope fish, two 3.5 inch featherfin catfish, and a leftover convict cichlid who doesnt have a place to go at the moment. My issue is in the feeding of these fish. Im giving them bloodworms, beefheart, and brine shrimp once a day. If i give them an amount that will be consumed within 15 or so minutes, the bichir arent able to get any as the other fish are quick to swoop in and get all they can. If i put in larger amounts (2 standard sized cubes), the bichir have time to find the food, but much of it winds up rotting, and then come planaria. Ive been changing the water consistently and gravel vacuuming once a week, but i feel like there has to be a way around this. Any suggestions?

Side note: the cat fish are eating the planaria, and i've been told this is fine.

Planaria will not harm your catfish, you can control planaria by feeding less .

You can also feed bicher, and rope fish at night. Feather fin catfish will probably join them.

I guess my question is, how can i ensure the bichir get their portion of the food without overfeeding.

Ill try that, thanks!

By putting them in their own tank.
You are way overstocked in that one already hence ur planaria.

Usually when u get an outbreak its best to start over as it gets everywhere ,including filters and decor and of course all over the tank
