Not sure what to do. After several years one of my oscars decided to lay eggs. Unfortunately it was during a couple of really long work days (Throwing food in & running). I didn't notice the eggs till they had begun to go off. Took a bit to clean tank out thoroughly, but have had planaria in there ever since. Have kept up the weekly vacuum & 50% water changes, cut the food down until I feel like the "girls" are going to eat me through the glass, put in a 1 tab per 40L salt dose - and still they are there. How often can I water change without upseting the bacteria for the cycling process? (Never have a problem with ammonia) Water does tend to go acidic on me at 6.0. Local water PH is generally 6.8 - 7.0.
Any other ideas?

You could do massive changes, and still be o.k. I would do a 50% every other day for 3 changes vacuuming all 3 times. And most importantly how big is the tank? What is the filtration and media? This could be posted in the fish disease and health forum to get a more expert opinion. But for now, we will say what I said is o.k.

I've got them in a 280L tank. I have been using the same filter since they were small. I have got a 2000L/Hr I can upgrade too. Hadn't thought about that. Will also post something about the correct amount of food for 3yr old oscars to get on the right track. Constant water changes wont effect the bacteria level will it?
