So I was getting ready to wash my blackworms as I do everyday. (I get about 1/4 lb every 3-4 weeks for my fire eel from my LFS) They are kept in a white container that they come in and I throw them into a very fine fish net so they can't escape and wash em off. However, today when I dumped them into the net there were 3 "things" left in the container. As soon as I saw them I knew exactly what they were. (I knew I took microbiology for a reason!) Its a flatworm! Planaria I think and I believe Schmidtea mediterranea to be exact.

Thoughts?

Looks like it to me. Did you dispose them?

I did, with boiling water. Worth mentioning to my LFS?

Unless they repackage fish foods, complain directly to the company that owned the brand.

As far as I know, planaria are harmless and the fish will probably eat them. What is the problem other than an unexpected surprise?

Ok thanks, never happened before so I guess if it happens again I will just give them a friendly heads up.
