Guys,

In a couple of months im gonna start my major thesis and i can run an experiment with a yet to determine species of freshwater ornamentals.
I wont be able to pick something like rays or aros cuz i the species has be be affordable and available. The best species would be some sort of filter feeder or a plankton eater.
Im no expert on these species tho and i hope you guys can help me out with some names!

Thanks in advance!

I think thats a great idea but unfortunatly its WAY out of my area...good luck however.

thanks for the link.

The goby is pretty interesting. From what ive read just now is they are plankton eater but will eat mostly from the bottom by scooping a mouthful of gravel/sand.
Anybody know a swimming species?

Im looking for fish btw as ofc thats way more interesting than shrimp.

Paddlefish would be perfect.
Exacly what you're looking for.
Except they get like 8 feet and are almostimpossible to keep..:[
I'd say the dragon goby..

shrimp? there's a small freshwater kind that has little paddle-shaped fans as its front legs and uses them to catch tiny food particles in the water. might be a wood shrimp, but i'm not sure.

I think Satanoperca acuticpes is a pump strainer.

There are several filter feeders that would work if you can find them, Triportheus angulatus (giant hatchetfish) would be great as are some of the FW herring. Even the African arowanas feed on a high porportion of plancton and small mysids.

I vote for the african arowana :)
