Hi all,
I'm planning to set up a 260 Gallon Tank (84"(L) X 24"(W) X 30"(H)). I intend to put 6 Oscars in there (starting from 2-3" size all the way up-to maturity, no tank upgrade!!) along with 8-10 Silver dollars. Is the stocking level in accordance with the tank size? Or do I need to alter it somewhat.

Also I may opt to go for low tech Natural planted Tank with soil + gravel substrate (plants secured with big rocks / 2-3 kg boulders at the roots; of course) with moderate mechanical filtration.
Is there a chance of success with above mentioned method, given how notorious Oscars are??? Maybe if somebody succeeded, even I can too!!! With some trial n error….. (Only if somebody did succeeded!!!)

Plz advise, I know you can!!!!

Idk about the Oscar and silver dollar combo but, know that silver dollars are notorious for destroying plants. My 6 black bars are housed in a 300 that is non planted because they uprooted and ripped what ever greenery i put in it.

dont go soil... if it bleeds into the water colum you sill have algea probs...if you plant big hardy plants so oscars wont destroy them you can use fert tabs. maybe use playsand or pfs... gl

as far as fish it should be okay as long as the sizes and qty is in order..

Just wondering, what filtration are you planning to use in this tank?
