I recently got my hands on 2 more 20 gallon long aquariums (bringing my total to 3), and a simple home-made stand. The stand seems well put together, but the spacing between the levels bothers me. Now its got me thinking I want to make one of my own design. 3 leves, with a slight staggering from the top to the bottom to make it easier to access the filters, change water, and generally service the aquariums. I've got many of the general dimensions planned out, just have to go home and measure how much room I want between the bottom & middle tanks, as well as between the middle and top tanks.
Below is a link to the general idea of what I have in mind. Just curious if anyone else has made something like this? Anything I should know about additional support for the middle level? Thoughts on the design overall would be appreciated.

Updated after measuring tonight. 8" between the tanks should allow easy enough access. The stand overall would be under 6' tall, which would be easier to manage as well.
