I'm moving house soon and in my new house there's a cove that's 6x4x4, reckon that's about 600-700 gals.

It's probably gonna be 2ft off the ground and enough space for 2-3 fluval FX5's. How do you go about changing 100gals of water weekly, would you DIY a 6ft long gravel syphon hooked up to a power head to pump the water through a 20-30ft hose pipe down the toilet

then how do you get the water back in, should I fit a plumbers pipe straight in the tank. But how would I dechlorinate the water seperatley?

yeah i like those dimensions too i wanted to do that but figured it will be pricy cuz for 4ft width you need like 3/4 to 1 inch bottom glass and if you plan on going above 36" high you will probably need 3/4 or maybe even 1 inch all the way around glass alone is going to be well over 2g closer to 3g's maybe even 4 depending on the glass, would be really cool though

yeah i would just plumb it with water changes in mind keeping an outlet/inlet with a hose hook up so you can use a regular garden hose to fill or drain that way you have no problems on relocating a drain if you need to. IMO i wouldn't dump the water i would use it to water my lawn or something 100 gals a week is alot to be wasting lol

as for chlorine just add half a dose of primer into a gallon jug of water shake and dump into your tank after draining and add another using the same process after you fill this way the solution is distributed fairly evenly and no added stress to fish 1/2 + 1/2 = 1 full dose

Cheers, this is my dads project but he's involving me extremely, we are due favours from a black smith so that's a steel frame and there's a lfs near us that will build tanks, the electrician is coming in first when we move then the floor where the tanks going to be is getting cemented, Thats as much as I know right now and it's probably gonna be a S.A. Cichlid tank

sounds like a good tank to me. Is the tank going to be all glass? and does the new house have a well? cause wells normally don't have chlorine. I know mine doesn't and neither did my parents.. And city people complain about wells.
