Ok well im in the very very early stages of just planning a coral cat shark tank..i have decided to go with a 225 gallon tank which is reasonable for me to keep in upkeep prices and also i believe is a good size for one of these beautiful creatures...im now thinking about how i want the rockwork to give him caves to stay in and i think im going with a huge cave structure that my lfs got for their bamboo...and now im thinking about future tankmates..ive been reading that triggers, puffers and the large angels arent good tank mates...so what would u guys keep with a coral? i probably wont be putting the tank into cycling for months so i have lots of time to think if i wnana get a larger tank, or if im even prepared to under take a care of a shark for the long term..i mean i think the biggest mistake in the hobby is that one day the fish is cool and then r u rdy to take care of it for 5 years? 10 years? etc...and i never had an aggressive tank either...im a reefer soo these things r all new 2 me..

what are the dimensions of that 225g? 5'x3'x2'?
caves are good. try and find large flattish pieces of live rock. they look great, and make perfect plateaus that your coral cat can hide under.
groupers, some moray eels may work as tankmates. i dont think sharks should have many tankmates, personally.
do you have any plans so far about the tank's filtration?

um ive been looking into skimmers...but the largest tank i ever had was a 90gal reef and i had a 30gal refugium..i never had 2 filter anything so large+i know sharks are tough on the bioload...so any suggestions would be awesome...money isnt really an issue here id rather spend the money on sumthing good now then rather have 2 pay 2 upgrade later..but that being said i still want sumthing manageable u know?

i have only used reef octopus skimmers so was looking into the Reef Octopus DDNW 250
Recirculating Protein skimmer...it says its rated up 2 650gal so i think it will be alright

Well if your thinking of a filter, go with the fx5 a little pricey compared to other filters but it gets the job done. I have that for my 72 gallon bow front and that filter cleans up to 400 gallons......beast.

More like 4 or 5 fx5s. Best bet would be a wet dry and refugium with dsb and lots of chaeto and caluerpa.
