Right now I'm in the planning stage for a plywood tank. It will be a while before I build it. I'm curious in that do I have to use fiberglass to strengthen the tank up, or could I use other materials. Would it be possible to build a frame of wood around the outside of the tank to reinforce it? The size that I'm thinking of for the tank would be 4' by 2' by 2' tall. Thanks to anyone who helps me out with my question. As I said before, it will be quite a while before I start the build.

use at least 1/2" plywood with a 2x4 wood frame around it then use a 2 part epoxy to waterproof the inside. fiberglass really isn't necessary as long as long as you make it sturdy enough.
With a tank that size you can get away with using 3/4 ply only.. 3inch lip of ply around the face to set your glass to. put a 4inch brace across the top.. Good to go.
lol mines 1/2 " or 5/8" forgot the wood was free. Just space out your 2x4 frame all teh way around every 12" on center and it will be fine, just don't use OSB whatever you do.
Thanks everyone for you input. I have plenty of 1/2" plywood. I'll begin to work on it at the end of the month when I have a little bit more funds to get all of the other materials that is needed.
