Ok so I was planning on upgrading from my 230 gallon to something in the 400 gallon range but the prices for aquariums that size are insane! then a friend told me about the plywood tank concept, and sure enough there are a million threads and articles about it on this site, some of the tanks you guys have built are works of art! so I decided I was gonna throw my hat into the ring and build one. The stand and tank builds seem easy enough but im unsure of what glass thickness to go with as there seemed to be alot of arguing in the glass/acrylic thickness sticky. So my question is what thickness of glass would be acceptable for a 96x34x30 inch tank?
thanks.

thank you for the reply, I was thinking half inch would be ok but was a little worried because most of the diy tanks with half inch were 24 high.

It all comes down to a matter of how safe you want the tank to be. 24" is pretty standard height for 1/2" but I have a 90 tall that is 30" deep and it just survived the massive quake we had out here. The tank is also sitting on the ground so it took a lot of the shake.
