i plan on gettin a 135-160 gallon tank to hold my tarpon. now i need suggestions for a stand for the tank. my cousin suggested using cinder blocks.. will that do the job? any other cheap alternatives? what bout filtration? what filtration system should i run? im still a newbie in the game. thanks for the help.

cinder blocks are cool...drapping some fabric on it will do wonders, just dont get it wet!

Concrete blocks not cinder, they are not the same thing.

Use blocks with 2x4 - or 2x6 and liquid nails to hold blocks together.

Don't skimp on blocks, with substrate it'll weight approx. 1600 - 1900lbs.

And know what your flooring is.

Otherwise go with wood - there are several good plans on this forum.

For a filter go with a wet/dry...
