Plans or documentation for DIY hood

  • We are currently upgrading MFK. thanks! -neo
Take your camera to your LFS, find one or two that you like and snap some pictures. this will give you a general idea of how to construct yours, then just tailor the dimensions to fit your tank.

Have you tried google?

Go to http://www.garf.org/ on the left hand side of the site click on DIY Pages, and you'll see both low and high profile canopys, will even provide you a cut list.

So nothing online then?

if you count MFK, yes. Otherwise i have no idea.

I get my ideas from what I see built by MFK members and what is sold retail.

I have polyurethane drying on my hood I just did. It looks pretty nice, but you would have to modify the design quite a bit for a reef tank (Lighting)

I'll try to get some pics.

I'm building one right now. I've already started a thread for it:

Let me know if this is the style you are looking for, and I will post more specific details on it. The front half of the top is hinged and it flips back for access. It only takes about 5 pieces of wood not including trim.
