Anybody ever use those aquarium plant bulbs that supposedly begin to grow in 2 weeks if you drop em in the water??

I tried them with no success. They just got moldy.

I've used these and had good luck with them. They're some sort of aponogeton. Do you have a heater in your tank? They usually do best at tropical temps in the high 70s. Have you ever used any kind of algecide? Did you try to bury the bulb in the gravel? If you did, don't do that, or the bulb will rot rather then sprout. Just let them float or sink, and after they put out shoots and a bit of roots, bury only the roots in the gravel, leaving most of the bulb above the gravel.

I didnt bury them, I let them float. They didnt sprout, they just got moldy. I will try to attach one to a rock.

thanks that helps alot i had bought a bulb it looked like a red banna plant
but i had no sucsess with it the guy at the pet store did not know what to do with it . so i thought you would plant it like a 'tulip' or like other other bulbs so i put it in the gravel lets just say it did not work .

but next time i will let it sit on the gravel till it gets a good set of roots and just plant the roots ,once more thanks:thumbsup:

I have used them in the past, and they did grow, but the goldfish ate the plants almost as fast as they grew.
