How many of you have a plant canopy for your bichirs? Added one to our tank about 2 weeks ago and they go up and lay in it I just wondered if this was something that is a common occurance for bichirs.

My bichirs were always happiest when I had their tanks stuffed with water hyacinth. I could keep the lights on for up to twelve hrs a day, with very little of the light actually penetrating to the floor of the tank. They loved to hover up in the long flowing roots of the plants and would seemingly disappear for hrs. waiting for some unsuspecting prey to swim by. It made for a very natural looking tank, and it kept the water cleaner as a bonus.
I tied some plastic plants together and attacked them at the top of the tank on three of the corners. My del loves it, sometimes i cant even find him hiding there..
My juvies also love chillin in the floating plants, but they seem to grow out of it, or get too heavy for the plants to support them.. My sen, del, and ornate... Other eels as well
