Rigged these up to attach java fern and anubias securely to the glass. Will do something similar with thin driftwood and stainless screws.20190610_090228.jpg
Reason for this being is my acara likes to redecorate and pull the java fern free every time i tey to get it to take root on the rocks/wood.

Nice. I use stainless steel screws with suction cups to hang wood from tank walls sometimes.

And yeah i will wholeheartedly agree that breeding blue acaras are not plant safe. They will probably come after the plants on the walls too as long as youre mixing males and females.

Oh that tank looks awesome! And just the female in the tank for now. The male was being a little too aggressive for my liking . The firemouth in there with her for now will be rehomed soon either to my lfs or mabe on here for free locally

Ah i see. With mine its usually the males tearing at the plants and then presenting the leaves to their prospective mates. Terribly cute but so destructive.

Yeah he was keeping my lily in the big tank under control while she was in there. My plan was to get her plump and ready to lay then put her back in, but for now her fins need to recover. It is great to watch him try and rip off a whole leaf off trying to impress her.

You have wild type blue acaras or electric blues? My EBs will only try to breed if there is a suitable rock in the tank. I kept that tank without a stone in it for months and all they wanted was food. I put the rocks in yesterday and it was like a rave started in there. I expect every cichlid in the tank will have some ripped fins by the time i get home today.
