Hey folks. When I went plant crazy on my 65gal I just kinda bought a bunch of stuff to see what would work well.
I think this is a Broadleaf Sag, but not 100%. I cannot find examples that have the awesome pin-stripe the mature plants have in the center.

Looks like Jungle Val to me too. You can expect 6ft leaves when it is happy.PXL_20210314_190954042.jpgPXL_20210404_003803297.jpg

I’m not sure it’s Sagittaria, I think it looks more like Giant vallis. Expect the leaves to reach >4ft in length when growing strongly.
Hmm could be!
I don’t remember buying giant val, only sag and jungle val (and this is VERY different from the jungle val- americana). Well, I guess it’s a sub species of Americana?
I have jungle val from the same tank. I took side-by
-sides of the two.
The questionable species has super fat leaves right from the get-go. The other “jungle” val doesn’t ever develop the stripe, is much narrower, and doesn’t have the reddish color

Giant vallis, known as vallisnaria sp. gigantea or sometimes vallisnaria Americana sp. gigantea often has the much broader leaves and redder colour in mature plants. The broad leaves are even on young /shorter plants.
No doubt some LFS get the two varieties confused and just label them both as giant or jungle.

phew, okay. thank you ?
I was worried when everyone was saying jungle val, like maybe I’m going crazy
I’ve had them both long enough for them to produce lots of baby plants and watch them grow. In pic #2, you can see how chunky the baby plants can be, and sometimes they can be very red (babies and adults).
I’m pretty sure I got most of the plants off eBay, so they could have easily sent the wrong thing since I’d bid on 10-20 items at a time (all about that shipping discount).
I’m certainly happy with the mix-up! I think these are absolutely gorgeous compared to the jungle val... The leaves look delicious.
