Do clown loaches like to nibble on plants? I have had a piece of bamboo in my tank for almost a year now and it has been thriving and growing great. Recently the leaves have looked a bit pale and one of them looks completely dead. My Oscar unearthed it the other day as usual. When I went to put it back in the ground as soon as I took my hand off all of my clowns came and appeared to be nibbling the roots. Is this something they do? Is that why my bamboo is dying?

+1

and no Loaches do not eat plants..they were probably attacted to the crap that came up from under the bamboo

Sometimes fish will just go for things that look like their food. Like, my Fahaka puffer kept trying to go for the roots sticking out from this bulb I planted, probably because they looked like little worms.

My clown loach horde can down a whole zucchini in 2 days and nibbles on my portos roots. but the bamboo, the leaves need to be in the air, otherwise they'll rot.

my featherfin synodontis does the same thing with my amazon sword roots. they get HUGE root systems. i always suspected she likes to eat roots but i agree with the idea that she just likes the poop that gets up in the water collumn from uprooting.
