But I think it's brown algae... I can rub it off the leaves, it just looks really ugly. Am I doing anything wrong with my planted set up? It's not on every plant though.

I have 2.88 WPG, no c02, black sand, and I add Flourish liquid fertilizer once a week.

If I forgot anything let me know.

Thanks!

no CO2 and no EXCEL?
need details on the lighting and the distance from substrate plz

Sorry guys I'm at work right now but I'll get all of that info when I get home later tonight. Thanks for all the replies so far

I have six, 60 watt CFLs on my 125. They are 6 inches above the glass tops which are 22 inches from the roots. I have no c02 because I heard its not necessary and I use flourish.

Flourish excel is different some flourish. I definitely recommend it if you aren't using co2. Brown algae is common on newly setup tanks. What's your stock? Some otocinclus catfish are very good algae eaters. Some shrimp are as well. But neither do well with large fish that can eat them (for obvious reasons).

I can't get small fish. I have a Florida gar, 2 smaller Pbass, and a smaller hybrid catfish lol. Algae eaters wont work.

I had the same problem till i put my algae shrimp in my planted tank, he cleared up the brown on the leaves.
