I have a flouresent light and i was wondering does flouresent light offer the lighting it needs? and if it does than my plants have root tabs and liquid nutriend stuff and they are turning a lil brown
Its really based on how many watts per gallon you have. For example if i have a 110 watt light on a 55 gallon than i have 2 watts per gallon which is between low and high lighting. Low lighting is 1 watt per gallon and high is anything higher than 2.
I have a finer kind of gravel with root tabs and i bought the tank with a 29 gallon combo thing years ago and it has 2 flouresent bulbs in there so idk it was a very common combo pack i see them everywhere
what size of tank? look on the bulb to see how many watts. if its a bigger tank you prob will have to add more light. if its smaller 10-20 you might be able to get away with the stock lighting.
if its a 29G tank, then it is 30" wide, which means you probably have two 20W bulbs; that's not bad from a WPG standpoint (about 1.3), which would be enough for low-light tolerant plants like java ferns, anubias, amazon sword, etc.
I'm just guessing tho' . . . if you could look at the bulbs and tell us what they say - - they should have the wattage, and maybe the name of the bulb - - then we would know for sure . . .

frill, some kinda sword that the lfs didnt say, tons of java fern, scarlet. WOW i just opened up the foggy glass and saw that there was actaully only 1! 20 watt light! wow thats rediculous if u ask me. i remember when i got the combo i read on the side of the box that said "lighting great for plants" or something along the line of that
