Hi there, i'll be running 4x40watt T8 bulbs on my 240g.
Currently there is 2x40watt T8 bulbs,

Current bulbs are:
Power-glo 18.000k
Atman white 10.000k

So, in order to get the most out of my lighting in terms of plant growth, would it be better if the last two 40watt bulbs were a different color, like for instance 6.700 and something else to get different light hitting the plants, or is it just as good just getting another set of 1x 18.000k and 1x 10.000k.

I will also be planting a lot of grass, to form a full carpet, along with all the plants, how do you foresee this going without any co2, and with these lights?

I will be dosing the highest quality plant fertilizer, but is this enough along with the lights?

Cheers.

It's good enough and there is no need for Co2 in my opinion.

It should work out well with the fertilizer and light.

Best of luck to you =]

If it was me, I would look stick with the 10,000K bulbs. When you start using 18,000K and lots of ferts, your at risk of a lot of algae developing. Algae LOVES 18000K lighting range

Thanks for the replies so far guys

I'm not worried about algae, as i'm actually hoping to grow lots of it on the background and sides :)

My real concern is whether or not the light will reach the grass, and if so, if it's enough to sustain a carpet with fertz.

also hoping to grow the cryptocorynes lush and tall

Well in that case you should have no problems in it flourishing!

freshwater plants thrive with lighting in the spectrums of 6000-10,000k. i would ditch the 18,000k bulb, that spectrum of light is no good for freshwater plants
