I have a bunch of Java Fern and one large Anubias in my Cichlid aquarium. The fish have essentially accepted the plants presence for about a year - no destructive mauling, just the occasional nips. However I do still find random pieces of leaves, leaf debris, and other plant matter floating around the tank semi-often. I know that if left to decay, they will pollute the water and contribute to the filter's load, so I net them out when I see them.
Soooo, for anyone who has successfully cohabited SA/CA's and live plants: Have you found the random leaf particles to be common/inevitable? or is it just a sign that my plants are not healthy? Appearance wise I don't see any issues with them at all, but I am concerned about the random floating leaf particles.
