Plant probs... any help?

ok ive had my planted tank with CO2 a heater and everything for about a month now... all the sudden one day i wake up to find all my plants (stuck deep in the substrate and anchored) and java moss floating on the top in a foam of putrid smelling bubbles. EEEWWWW!!!!!! :irked: WTF??? :confused: what did i do wrong? all my water peramiters (spelling?) were fine and its been fine for over a month. i dont get it. any help? suggestions/reasons why it did this? im confused and its my first planted tank.
 
can anyone help me with this? need help and my plants are floating in a bubbly white liquid that smells putrid.... *barf*

Is your CO2 from a yeast bottle? Cause it sounds like your tank is full of yeast by-product, which is foamy and smells gross.

hopefully there were no fish in the tank. If it's any consolation, the bottle could have exploded all over your room (walls, ceiling, everything).

If you plan to keep plants for a while, I highly recommend investing in compressed CO2.
 
yeah it was the CO2 that broke, the pump was just spitting rotting stuff into the tank and that smelled nasty, but luckely there were no fish there.
