plant question?

ok you guys probably get this alot but i got a sword in my tank big plaint kinda a show piece if you will. it is the only live plant in there other then duck weed. my question lys is is it normal for the leafs to tern kinda red and is there anything i should be doing to keep it alive. the tank is mainly tetras and 3 plecos a red spot,blue phantom and a candy strip. the tetras love it as well as my butterfly loaches. could the plecos be eating it i just dont want to lose the thing it looks awsome. lighting is 2 t5 and a 9w pc the thank is a 45 hex. all the fish are doing good and the water peramiters are all stable i do a 5g water change every week. here is a pic of it if it helps.

Are you feeding the plant? Heavy root feeders so liquid ferts do not work as well. Plecos could be problematic as well.
 
there are strains of sword with red. id say the red is ok. depending on your plecos they can cause a problem with eating the plants
 
i got a L015 and a L128. i dont know what the other one is kinda a weird looking lol
 
Some aquascapers intentionally lower their nitrogen levels to 5ppm or lower to bring out the redness in plants. The plant may be so big that the little fish aren't producing enough nitrate to fully support the plants needs. Other plants can develop redness in the presence of high light, high magnesium, high iron etc.

Or like others have stated, it may just be the species of plant has hints of red.
