hi i am wondering if cichlid would damage or eat live plants, i know they dig up roots/plant! so please dont tell me about the uprooting stuff, anyone with experience with a cichlids tank with live plant, can you tell me how it is. thank you

What kind of cichlid some are plant safe some are not.

Of all the cichlids I've kept, only severum ate plants regularly. They loved my rocks covered with dwarf baby tears and eventually ate the whole thing.

And clown loaches, though not a cichlid, can be very destructive to plants. They punched holes on all the leaves of my amazon sword which ended up dying because of it.

Tough to find a cichid that doesnt want to dig and move any plants, live or plastic.
best thing i have done is tip tie my plants to rocks and bury in the substrate so they cant move them as easily.

yeah my convict tank has sizable anubia ..all attached to logs or rocks, java moss..attached to the logs and pennywort that floats at the surface.

its amusing to watch when they spawn and the java moss is over grown they get so angry when there fry get in it they roll it in to a large ball across the tank.
