Just sharing my rescape of my 5 gallon, got new java fern and Monte Carlo for this scape, was planning on getting chili rasboras and scarlet Badis but my lfs store ran out. I will be putting updates once I organize/clean the tank some more of detritus and algae, and once the Monte Carlo carpets.
A lot of these plants and walls have algae which I am slowly taking care of since the water levels a little high. Plants include anubias, christmas moss, java fern, Monte Carlo, and Salvini. Habitants: 3 amano shrimp and 1 oto. Light: fluval aquasky, white, red, and blue turned up all the way. Substrate is some kind of volcanic soil.
Anything I should add or change? I read Monte Carlo doesn’t need co2, but should I add some or would it not be needed?

Monte Carlo can be grown w/o co2 but needs lots of lights and fertz. If u add co2 then it’ll grow even better. So will all ur plants. Add some red plants but will need some iron. That’s my only my suggestion.

Are there any non co2 Rotala I could use? Or any luduwigia I could add? I am also using Seachem fertilizer tabs, any iron fertilizer you could recommend?

Yea it can be added. You’d have to use a fert to the water and root tabs with either one. I prefer Ludwigia for the deeper reds. Can try seachem flourish, aquarium co-op easy green or a diy mix. Most will work.

Found this on aquarium co-op, Alternathera reineckii, also his iron fertilizer. If I can’t find any Ludwigia at my lfs, I might order this, $10 shipping seems good.

Looks better.

Looks good but I really think that co2 should be added. I've heard of many people who had major issues growing it. You could even just do DIy co2 if you wanted. It's pretty cheap to do.

Noticing that I’ll probably need to add more plants to help balance out the nutrients/light. And some more algae eaters to help eat the existing algae, anyone know where to order cherry shrimps from? Just plain cherry shrimps and not expensive shipping, my lfs has them but they are a little too much if I want to get 10+.
