I've always wanted to have a vibrant planted tank for my SH and to do that, the easiest way to have big healthy plants is with CO2. What im wondering is, since SH require a breath every now and then, would the CO2 collect at the surface of the tank? And if so, would the SH be taking a breath of CO2 which could be potentially toxic?

Input would be great, thanks

co2 wont be collected on the surface , just make sure a appropriate tank height for dwarf / mid-sized / large species , big healthy planted tanks doesnt need to have co2 injection , careful selections of low light plants in a low tech tank will work too

:iagree: you could fill a tank with low light plants and supplement with Flourish Excel as a source of carbon for good growth. if you want the lush jungle look, then you will need co2, and i think it should be fine for your fish
