Plants and I have never gotten along very well. I have a "planted" tank with anubias, javafern, and a few moss balls and they seem to be doing reasonably well, despite my black thumb. I contribute it to my corner matten filter, the little plantlets don't get sucked up and chopped up by an impeller during the first "die off" that happens in my tanks when I first get plants.
I want to do a dwarf puffer tank that is truly planted though. Something on the order of 5-10 gallons with 1-3 dwarf puffers, a few crypts, anubias nana, java fern, and a few lovely little moss balls. For substrate I'm thinking black eco-complete, lighting I'm not sure, perhaps a tiny little LED fixture, but I'm not sure on brand, heating is another problem that needs solving. Even a corner matten filter (one of my personal favorites other than the Hagen Aquaclear) would be too large for a tank this size, so it'll likely be something like the Azoo palm filter.
Anyone got any more suggestions?
