it is a BGK swimming on it's side, but i was wondering what i can do to further advance the tank but i am not looking to run CO2, but i have a small/medium gravel as the substrate and was wondering if sand would be better, and what lighting should i use?

I use a clip on reading lamp from Home Depot with a Phillips 'Plant bulb' on my 6g, usually on for 6 - 8 hours a day and everything is flourishing.

ps, how'd you stop the water from coming out for the second pic?
