Just got a bunch of java moss & water sprite clippings from a user on a local forum...figured I'd share my new aquascape (even though the pictures suck) This is my first attempt so hopefully it all goes well.

I attached the moss to my driftwood, planted the majority of the sprite and left a good amount of it floating as well. All I have right now are iphone pics but hopefully if we get that POTM going again it won't be before all of this has had a chance to grow in & really look like it belongs :)

I'm just running a single 40watt t8, seachem flourish once a week (started last week:p) and no c02. So hopefully these plants will do pretty well in those conditions. My fish seem to be loving them. I just hope my jack dempsey doesn't dig everything up (I avoided planted his cave in the center, I think thats the only spot he'll bother digging) and that my mystery/apple snails don't eat them--so far they haven't really bothered any of my longer-standing plants so I have high hopes.

This is my first REAL foray into live plants. Previously I've just had the one anubias bunch & a few wysteria stalks that have survived for a few months, but haven't really grown, spread or thrived.

here's to hoping :)

good luck :P hoping when my manzanita gets here i can get a bunch of anubias and try something similar

Looks good, from my exprience both are easy to grow my only worry is the JD might did up sprite but thats it.

Thanks :)

The sprite all looks kind of chaotic right now but I'm hoping it'll liven up & open a bit with a few months of growth.

So far my JD has stalked through it a bit and bullied my other fish but nothing major. No signs of digging yet. I've had him in a tank pretty much his whole life with at least a few plants & he's never dug them up. All he generally digs is under his cave...he likes to get that as deep as he can so I usually have a spot of bare glass where he sits in there :p

I am a bit worried about the floaters I left though...between the two xp3's I have on the tank I have a pretty heavy amount of current in the tank. They seem to settle on the sides for minutes at a time, then for minutes at a time take high-speed trips around the tank & sometimes make it to the middle where they hang & sometimes get caught on the other things in the tank....Not sure if floating plants can thrive under those conditions?

Guess I'll just wait and see though....I don't want to plant any further towards the left side of the tank & theres not much space left to cram the rest of the sprite on the right side anyways.
