I have put together a new quick planted nano setup. I got this nice glass vase for $20 at Hobby Lobby with their 50% off sale. It holds about two gallons.

That is just a simple clamp light (~$6) with a spiral CF bulb (~$3).

Here is one of the plants that I am going to stick in there, an Aponogeton sp. in a Tank Planter.

I love these! I keep daphnia, hydra, scuds etc. in mine. Southern window light does it for the hornwort, elodea and nostoc balls I have used. Hopefully you won't have any algae problems with that bright light running.
P.S. Square vase for the win. The round vases make viewing more like a yoga exercise.

Thanks so much. I like this setup it is very simple.

I get more of an impressionistic view of the plants, but I don't mind the curved glass.

Here is another new shot. I have some of my favorite houseplants there and they can get some of the light spilling over from the lamp.

I added a little bright orange platy too.

I like it. very sleek.

How will the Platty do without a filter?

nice!!
