Is this possible? With Amazon/Brazil swords and the like?

Obviously, but I hear piranha get over 2", which means they potentially could knock over plants, etc.

absolutely. Don't know if you heard or not but piranhas eat flesh, not plants.

Piranhas are omnivores. My P's ate all my hornwort and occasionally took a leaf or two off the amazon swords.

For the most part, they leave it alone. If they eat any of it, its likely helping their diet.

There is some pretty nice planted P tanks out there

tuff plants are always safer with ps. just keep in mind that when chasing a prey, they may put your setup the other way around. i keep red bellies, and tried plenny of stuf. what works the best for me is crypto, microserum, java moss, amazone, and the bulb plants like onions (dont remember the name sorry)

but try whatever you want, just keep in mind that they move some water when they chase!

and as for natts, yes they might take a bite here and there but nothing that will really affect your plants. the carnage is when they breed. then, they clean up a wide space for their nest. so for a single p (e.g. sanchezi, mac) you won't have these problems. for larger serra, like rhombs, again, keep in mind that these monsters move some water when they chase and you might find all of your plants floating on the surface.

i had a "forest" of vals set up in my P tank before..

it was only there for about a month.. they chewed up the leaves so bad that most of the plants died.. and the ones that didnt were uprooted and sucked up by my filters.. that isn't to say im not gonna try again thou :D

Lol, thanks for all of the advice.
