will this work for my 75gallon. i want to put a 5g or 2g inline with my canister. the plants would include java moss and java fern as they ''eat amonia''. my gaol is to aid in removing amonias and nitrates. anyone ever do this

ive never trieid this before but i have seen a 5 gallon tank being filtered with only moss and it stayed crystal clear, so this should work quite well. good idea post some pics if you go through with it

may be a silly question, but why dont you just put the moss into your tank?? As the moss will still need light to grow and munch that ammonia? Plus you will be able to see the great effect that it will have on the tank inhabitants.

it would work, however it'd be a better idea to use really fast growing plants, naja grass is one that i've got that does well in med-low light and really grows fast

lol. thats true. i had a mind blank!:screwy:

That will not work, as your refugium will have a dead pump in a few days. If you plumb it separately, it will work, but inline, you would have to match the pump ratings, and how much drag each pump has. It is not possible.

if he had the 75g overflowing into the 5g it would work, or have the 5g above the 75g and overflowing into the 75g it would work.

Read his post. He wants it inline with a canister, which would make it a non-drilled tank. Two pumps running inline will always result in failure.

thanks wyldfya. im not going to do it.
