Can a severum stay in a planted aquarium if I continually put lettuce and zucchini in the tank for it to eat or will it still eat the plants?

I wouldn't do it, the plants will not be safe, at some point it will become a bad mix. Why not go with something like festivums

I haven't had any problems yet. I've only had my severum for a few weeks, though...

Most of my plants are fake, so I think it keeps it guessing.

before I put my severums in my 125 , I had it heavily planted with 3 dollars . always had to prune - then when the turned around 3 inches it went from no pruning to no plants , I would guess Severums would be similar.

I have seen my severum trying to rip into my fake plants before, and the large 10" sev I had supposedly ate an entire plastic fake plant before I got it. So I could only imagine what they would do to real plants!

Can be done.

Most sevs will simply rip out the plants, try to eat them, and lose interest.

One plant is your answer. DUCKWEED. reproduces like mad, sevs will love it, and its easy for them to eat.

vals, anubius and java ferns have worked well for myself. algae can we a problem, as most good algae eaters are too small / ***ile to go with your sevs (shrimps, otos etc)

This. Even if they don't 'eat' the plants, they'll rip them up.

Possibly doable if they are introduced to a pre-planted tank as juveniles. If they find out that plants have roots they will keep digging them up and eating them.
