Aquarium plants ?!

yea, true story. But it has to be the stuff without any added chemicals or "scent blockers" etc. It's ugly though and dosent last very long, bite the bullet and grab some flourite, eco complete, or even just plain old soil imo.

Wow , I learn something new every day. I was told way back that using the buckets that the cat litter came in was a big no no. Go figure :D

Well it may be, the fresh step/scented or whatever cat litter is bad juju. But if you find just plain old "cat liter clay" like the big brown bag that just has black block letters that say "cat litter" on it, that stuff you can use.

Why would you want to though? It seems to me that it would be easier and better for the inhabitants to just suck it up and pick up some flourite. If the issue is money then someone is in the wrong hobby. The cost of the flourite is a drop in the bucket compared to what you can and probably will wind up spending over the course of a year.

Yeah, I could just suck it up, and it isnt that money is the issue, for the most part, I can afford it, but some people who budget their spending are smart in my opinion. Someone who isnt tight with thier money are dumb, really, because there are always a way to save big when there are other alternatives in a hobby. If people would recommend dishing out the extra buck or two, Im game. I want the best results, at a bargain deal, if possible. Im not "new" to this hobby, but I am just trying to further my knowledge in any way possible.
