seriously, i gotta hand it over to you guys keeping channas in a "jungle" like aquarium setting with planted substrates and floating plants (especially the floating plants)...

my question is, how do you filter? what type usually? or is it since the plants are there, they are enough of a filter themselves?...

for filtering, arent those plants clogging intakes and tubes?

please enlighten me... thanks!

dont count on plants to filter anything for you lol. what sh are you planning to keep? i basically have eheim canisters/sumps then i've sort of added extra stuff to it. result: heavy duty filtration :D

i had a load of duck weed for my juvies and it doesnt get disturbed by the filtration or pumps or anything. it grows so quickly too. but if not i'd just get fake plants and put them in. i was thinking about getting a few and tying it down to my boogwood.

Usually those "jungletanks"are speciestanks and with few individuals in them,so the bioload is relatively low.
Many use "hamburgfilters" or airpowered filters as most channas dont like strong currents, these types of filter are basicly clogfree or very easy to maintain at least.
And the have huge surfacearea.
The plants DO help leaching nutrients from the water too.

thanks for the answers dbb and Neervana... oh and congrats on the healing of your SH Neervana (read through it) xD

not sure yet about the SH since my tank is still in its planning stages (still all in the head LOL) xD
