Trying to convert my tank to a planted 55gal, found a fixture online says it comes with one daylight t-5 bulb 10000k and a one pink plant growth lamp. Putting out an overall 108watts of light. I wanted to know if that would be a safe and sufficent amount of lighting. Also wanted to know exactly what this pink bulb does and is it required, i never heard of one before.

The pink blub just has a diffrent K rating...most likely around 5000K to have peaks in the red spectrum which plants enjoy. Thats a fine amount of lighting...you could grow most plants except alot of the light hungry stems. I have a tripple bulb T8 96watt strip on my 55G and its doing great so far :) Do you plan to use any planted tank specific gravel like Flourite?

not at this time, i have a sanded bottom, going to see how the plants take to that first. If that fails that I will move to add flourite.
