i have a 55 gallon tank with a jack dempsey, pacu, peacock bass and a red ear slider.. im getting a silver arowana next week.. the jack dempsey and pacu are only about 2 1/2 inches my pbass is about 4 1/2 inches.. my red ear slider is 3 inches.. im upgrading to a 125 sometime in the nect two years... but im wondering how would i set up a planted amazon river looking tank

swords, jungle val, and i'd throw in some drawf grass and alot of driftwood. with regular pea gravel. atleast thats what i am doing:D.
think 3ft wide on the upgrade:D.

Im sorry but a 55 gallon is to small forwhat you want. Those fish get big and need a bigger tank. Dont buy a silver arowana unless your willing to update to a 180+ gallon tankk at the least for the silver arowana.

i have some of this on the top of my water. they called it water lettuce. not sure what the real name is. but my birchir will stay up in it and the pbass stays under it.

it was free got it in the same bag as i got my ornate in about 3 months ago. i like it. and it's low light.

i suggest you not buy the silver aro if you're planning to upgrade in the next 2 years... it will get way too big. also, hope you have future plans for the pacu which will require something like a large pond to house it for life...

and vaine111: that "water lettuce" looks like indian fern to me...

mine are just your basic bulbs. it's a 120. about twice a week i'll take all three of my lights and put it over the end with the plant. it's the only plant i have in it right now. the plants are much bigger now this was about a month ago.
